With an autumn fairy tale, they invited the first graders of the “St. Paisius of Hilendar”. The future sports and music stars, engineers, doctors and teachers were very happy to participate in the festive program together with the students from the upper classes. Thus, young and old graduates of the school opened a new page of knowledge in their way forward.
Music teacher Nikolay Delchev took care of the live music setting of the mood on the exciting day with guitar melodies.
Today, 587 students from first to 12th grade entered the school threshold for the first time. Among them, the smallest are 72. The school also teaches 31 students with special educational needs. The school is one of the first in the region to be equipped for an accessible environment for children in wheelchairs and has a prepared team of speech therapists, pedagogues and psychologists.
Sezan Mehmed is among the children who, despite being in a wheelchair, go to school every day. She is in eighth grade this year and happily came back to hear the first day of school. The girl is happy that she can be next to her peers in the classroom and shared that she missed her classmates during the summer vacation.
Participation in various charitable causes is a tradition at the school. The volunteer club, made up of students, develops various ideas for mutual aid. This good example was also shown today. The school is among those who today joined the cause of raising funds to help the victims of the floods in Karlovsko Chora. Children and parents dropped their help in the box designated for it.
Traditionally, at the beginning of the school year, even before entering the school building, the first-year students received a symbolic “key of knowledge” from the older students.
2022 will be the year for SU “St. Paisius Hilendarski” under the sign of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the patron of their school.
For a successful start of the new school year, the children and teachers received congratulatory addresses from the official minister of education Prof. Sasho Penov and from the head of the Regional Department of Education Eng. Veselina Pavlitova. On behalf of herself and the mayor of Haskovo, Stanislav Dechev, the head of the “Education, Culture and Youth Activities” department in the local administration, Yordanka Ivanova, congratulated the students, teachers and parents.
