From November, residents of Veliko Tarnovo will once again be able to apply for replacement of the old polluting wood and coal stoves. The press center of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo reminds about Focus Agencythat the project “Bulgarian municipalities work together to improve the quality of atmospheric air” under the Life program of the European Commission now includes air conditioners as a permissible new heating device, in addition to those using gas or pellets. Veliko Tarnovo and the other four municipalities defended the change in view of the changed economic situation in Europe.
The campaign covers five districts – “Varusha” and the old part of the city, “Asenov”, “Kartala”, “Akacia” and “Sveta Gora”, as well as the wide city center with the areas around PMG “Vasil Drumev”, “Ivaylo” stadium, MOBAL “Dr. Stefan Cherkezov”, Language Gymnasium, Elementary School “St. Patriarch Evtimii”, PGSAG “Angel Popov”, Elementary School “Petko R. Slaveikov”, Park “Marno Pole”.
New appliances are free to approved applicants, along with installation, removal of old stoves and recycling.

For the large districts – “Buzludzha”, “Zone B”, “Kolyu Ficheto”, “Cholakovtsi” the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo is preparing a new project, which will be submitted under the new OP “Environment”. It is planned to cover over 4,000 households, whose old stoves will be replaced with new heating devices of different types.
