“Deadpool and the Wolverine” with a new trailer: “Trust me, kid, I’m not a hero”

--

Marvel Studios’ big bet nailed our attention with adamantine claws.

The new trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine” (Deadpool & Wolverine) is what we wanted – 2 minutes of punches and laughs between the two superheroes of the title. And heroic slow-motion scenes!

Watch the trailer here, then we’ll talk more about the film (it’s 18+, mind you!):

It looks like we’ll be watching how the mouthy mercenary, who regularly breaks bones and the Fourth Wall, will try to restore Wolverine’s faith in himself.

In the trailer, Deadpool tries to recruit a desperate – and apparently drunk – Logan (Jackman) to his cause. Logan quickly wants to cut him down – even literally – but his situation is apparently so dire that he can’t “lift the claws”.

The playful communication between the two continues throughout the trailer, where we learn that this version of Wolverine (of all people in the multiverse, right) is a failure and has failed to save even those closest to him. Apparently, Logan himself is of the same opinion, but not Deadpool.

He believes in his new friend and admits, “I don’t know anything about saving worlds. But you do!”.

And as the trailer makes clear, Deadpool is “about to lose everything he’s ever cared about” and that’s why he’s trying to enlist the help of the former X-Men.

The persuasion also leads to a fight between the two, which includes shooting Wolverine in the ribs and driving adamantine claws into Deadpool’s groin. Good thing they both have the power to regenerate quickly…

The two minutes accompanied by Madonna’s Like A Prayer go by too quickly and leave us eagerly awaiting the premiere.

“Deadpool and the Wolverine” hits theaters July 26.

We remind you that this is the only film that Marvel Studios will release this year, as well as a debut for Deadpool and Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), where heroes such as Spider-Man, Thor, Doctor Strange and the new Captain America are in action.

Their transfer into the shared cinematic universe will be explained on screen with the help of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) organization that debuted in the Loki seasons. One of her agents (played by Matthew McFadden, known to you as Tom from The Heirs) sees heroic potential in Deadpool and shows him the “wide world” of the multiverse.

And to handle the task at hand, Deadpool will obviously need the angriest of all mutants.

In reality, Ryan Reynolds has long stated that he wanted to make a similar film with his friend Hugh Jackman, and eventually convinced the Australian to return to the role of Wolverine, although he “retired” from it with the drama “Logan” in 2017.

And we’re all the more glad you did.
