Actress Anne Hathaway told in an interview with “V Magazine” how she passed a “chemistry between partners” test before shooting: for this purpose, she had to kiss several guys. According to the 41-year-old actress, 20 years ago this was considered quite normal and usual.
Kiss to get the part
“In 2000 – and this really happened to me – it was considered normal to ask an actor to kiss other actors to test the chemistry,” she said. According to the actress, she didn’t like it, but she didn’t mind because she didn’t want to be perceived as “difficult”.

“They told me, ‘You’ve been cast for one role and you have to kiss ten guys.’ Aren’t you excited?” And I thought, “Is there something wrong with me because I wasn’t excited. I thought that sounded rude,” she recalls.
The actress adds that the situation was not anyone’s fault. “Nobody was trying to be awful or hurt me. It was just very much the moment and now we know better how to handle those situations.”
