Taylor Swift’s latest music production – The Tortured Poets Department, became the first album in the history of the Spotify platform to reach more than 300 million streams in one day, DPA and BTA report.
It came out on April 19. “History is a fact! On April 19, 2024, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department is the first album in the history of “Spotify” to have over 300 million streams in one day,” wrote the platform on the X social network.
The Grammy winner’s long-awaited 11th studio album includes collaborations with Florence and the Machine and Post Malone, and the song titles and lyrics seem to reference some of Swift’s former friends, DPA noted.
Fortnight featuring American rapper Post Malone is the first single from Swift’s album and became the most streamed song on Spotify in one day.
The video for the song features Dead Poets Society stars Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles, as well as Post Malone.
Hours after releasing her 16-track album, the American pop star announced an expanded version with an additional 15 tracks, titled The Anthology, DPA recalls.
The singer, who is known for drawing inspiration for her music from past relationships, placed So Long, London at number five on the album’s tracklist – a spot reserved for the most important single in any of Swift’s output, notes DPA.
The track is said to shed new light on the singer’s split from actor Joe Olwyn, with whom she dated for six years.
In December 2022, Olwin and his colleague Paul Mezcal revealed that they had a WhatsApp group chat with actor Andrew Scott called The Tortured Man Club, DPA recalled.
Taylor Swift is known for writing songs about her former boyfriends, including Joe Jonas, Harry Styles, Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer, who have also been linked to some of her biggest hits.
The American singer announced her new album from the stage at the Grammy Awards ceremony in February.
Swift’s world tour – Eras Tour, will be in Great Britain in June with a series of concerts in London, DPA recalls.
