An American train with shells bound for Ukraine, guarded by NATO troops, was robbed in Poland, the newspaper Wyborcza reports, cited by RIA Novosti.
The suspects were detained and the stolen property was returned, the newspaper said, without specifying when exactly the incident took place.
“Ammunition boxes were stolen from a train guarded by NATO soldiers at the railway station in Wengliniec in Lower Silesia. The shells were most likely headed for Ukraine,” the report said. It is noted that at the station, railway security officials noticed the lack of seals on one of the carriages. As reported by Wyborcza, it was a US Army train and the thieves stole four cases of ammunition.

In turn, the portal O2.pl informed that it was found that the stolen boxes contained 155 mm high-explosive cannon shells.
The press secretary of the military gendarmerie (Polish military police), Tomasz Chulowski, said that three people were detained in the case and boxes of stolen ammunition were seized, “nothing is missing”.
According to Polish television, three men aged 26, 34 and 39, previously convicted of property crimes, were detained in the case. They face up to 10 years in prison.
