S the current wave of COVID-19 is much milder, rarely requiring hospital treatment. The virus will not be a deciding factor in the election. There are people who are under quarantine and will not be able to vote, they are less than 5,000. This is what the chief state inspector, Dr. Angel Kunchev, told NOVA.
Strict measures are unnecessary, the quarantine should be dropped, he believes. The expert emphasized that there is a hidden morbidity in both influenza and COVID-19, especially in the milder cases.
For 5-6 days we have reached a plateau of the incidence of COVID-19, there is no new growth, there is a decrease in the rate of spread of the virus, there is an influenza epidemic, which occurs every year, said Kunchev.
This year, there is a delay in the flu, probably because they are competitive with COVID-19, which holds back the spread of the flu, Kunchev explained.
According to him, probably by the end of November, the beginning of December, there will be the first proven cases of influenza, and at the end of January – the beginning of February, the epidemic wave is also expected.
The expert explained that wearing a mask reduces the risk of spreading by more than 90%, and it is important that the one who is a carrier of the virus and has symptoms wears the protective device.
Kunchev said he prefers to vote with a paper ballot.
