Two red cards break Tottenham’s unbeaten record, Chelsea score 4 in derby

--

The London derby between Tottenham and Chelsea from the 11th round of the English Premier League offered exceptional emotions. The heated match was won by the “blues” with 4:1, but not without the help of referee Michael Oliver.

The best referee picked up two early red cards for the hosts, which practically decided everything in the match.

The derby was especially for Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, who returned to the stadium of his former team Tottenham, where he spent 5 years. However, the specialist was met in the worst way, after Kulushevski scored for the Spurs in the sixth minute.

After that, the main actor became the VAR system and the already mentioned Oliver, who is England’s number 1 referee. On 21 minutes, Sterling equalized, but the goal was disallowed for handball and a 3-minute review.

Chelsea did get a goal on 33 minutes, but in scandalous fashion. First, Caicedo put the ball into the net, but again VAR ruled an offside. However, it turned out that a second before that there was a foul in the penalty area and again the video replay system intervened.

And the judge was categorical – a penalty for Chelsea, but also a red card for Romero.

Cole Palmer sent the ball into the net for 1:1, and the first half was played with a full 12 extra minutes due to many stoppages.

At the very beginning of the second half, Michael Oliver was again in the center of attention. He dispossessed Tottenham’s second player Udoji, forcing the home side into a deafening defence.

The militia lasted until 75 minutes, when Nicholas Jackson scored for 2:1. However, Tottenham did not give up and shortly after sensationally reached an equalizing goal. Which was overturned again after…VAR consultation and another offside.

In the continuation of the match, Jackson scored a twin goal with his previous one for 3:1, and then added another one for the final 4:1, completing his hat trick.

It was Tottenham’s first loss since the start of the season in England, but it was enough to knock the team out of first place in the standings. Manchester City remains there with 27 points, and “Spurs” are one less.

After the victory, Chelsea is tenth with 15 points, and next Sunday will have a tough task against the champion City.
