The new mayor of Plovdiv, Kostadin Dimitrov from GERB, explains his election victory with the positive campaign he ran and the fact that many Plovdiv residents already know his work as mayor of the Trakia region.
Dimitrov stated that his team will mainly include party members of GERB. He emphasized that the support he received from other parties in the second round was unreserved and he did not make agreements with anyone, including Slavcho Atanasov, who came third in the first round of the local elections.

“We have a clear victory in Plovdiv and the team that is already structured will be mainly made up of members from the party, unlike the previous mandate, where we had very few members of our party. And the support given to me by other parties was unreserved , without conditions.
“For the support from “United for Plovdiv” and Slavcho Atanasov – he was also the mayor of “Trakiya”, he knows my work and pointed to him as an example,” commented Dimitrov.
Among his main priorities as mayor are improving the infrastructure and completing renovations in the city. The transition to more ecological transport, care for the cultural and historical heritage and dealing with the large indebtedness of Plovdiv.
According to Dimitrov, a reassessment of the revenue part of the city will be necessary. Dimitrov also sees opportunities for the development of Plovdiv through various lines of aid from the state, BNT reported.
