“The SDVR allowed the two agitations to merge. I could stop the protest if there were negative opinions from DANS, SDVR, “Triaditsa”, the inspectorate, “Municipal Police”. This is what the mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, said on the occasion of the protests against the BFS, which turned into riots last night in the capital.
According to him, there were no warnings that the tension could escalate and therefore there was no reason to refuse to hold such a protest.

“There was something to be done, but unfortunately things have escalated. It was always possible to avoid such clashes – from separating the two agitations, to even more thoroughly scrutinizing them. It is the function of the SDVR to organize the peaceful conduct of such events, including whether or not there will be water cannons,” Terziev added.

The municipality will file a lawsuit against the organizer of the protest because of the damage caused to the infrastructure, which, according to the mayor of Sofia, amounts to BGN 42,5000.
“About BGN 14,000 for containers, bins and waste and cleaning activities. For manholes, tiles, curbs – BGN 8,000, pegs and signs – 4,500 and for damaged lining of the ceiling of the Olov Most underpass – about BGN 15,000,” said Vasil Terziev.

According to him, all the damage has already been repaired.
