Ivan Takov: Sofia cannot be a bet for settling relations in the assembly at the national level
The leader of the BSP in the capital called the invitation to a meeting sent by Terziev – “a PR action of the mayor”
Socialists in Sofia will not participate in the meeting between Cornelia Ninova and the capital’s mayor Vasil Terziev to discuss priority policies and projects for the development of the city. It should be held tomorrow. The invitation was sent by the mayor to the leader of the BSP, and earlier today Ninova announced on the sidelines of the parliament that they will talk, as it is about policies and priorities for Sofia.
Terziev also invited Boyko Borisov, as well as the leaders of all parties and coalitions represented in the municipal council.
Sofia cannot be a bet for settling relations in the governing assembly at the national level, however, said the chairman of the BSP – Sofia and the group of socialists in SOS, Ivan Takov.
The decision not to include representatives of the socialists from Sofia in such a meeting was taken at a joint meeting of the Executive Bureau of the capital organization of the BSP and the group of municipal councilors, “Lege” 10 reported. It was convened in connection with the upcoming session of the SOS on Monday , November 20, at which the chairman of the Metropolitan Municipal Council must be elected.
“The decision we made is to once again broadcast our candidate for the chairman of the SOS. We will not support Boris Bonev for this post,” Ivan Takov said.
He called the meeting invitation sent by Vasil Terziev a PR campaign of the mayor. “We refuse to be involved in the settlement of relations in the governing assembly at the national level, he added. – We have already heard that the bet for the survival of the government was the election of Vasil Terziev as mayor of Sofia. At the moment there is a pending vote of no confidence in the government , whose vote was postponed until next Wednesday. We have no way of participating in backroom deals to save the government.”
Ivan Takov recalled that he had repeatedly stated the readiness of the municipal councilors from the “BSP for Bulgaria” group to participate in talks with the other political groups in the SOS about Sofia’s problems. “I emphasize – talks with political groups in SOS to seek support for policies, he explained. – Talks should be within the framework of the Metropolitan Municipal Council, as a body of local self-government. It is not necessary for Vasil Terziev to be a mediator. The Law on Local Self-Government and local administration indicates very clearly the place and responsibilities of the mayor and the municipal council. In this regard, on Monday we will submit specific reports related to the policies that we stated during the election campaign. And on this basis, we will seek talks and support from the other political groups in the Metropolitan Municipal Council”.
