“There are already five people who have admitted that they exaggerated their powers. The inspection by the inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is underway. The inspectorates are not the most independent structures. The result may be directed in a certain direction. The inspection will be complicated, many decisions have been made. Many of the scenes I saw – entering the establishment, fencing off the street, were not random decisions,” said former Deputy Minister of the Interior Filip Gunev in the Denyat ON AIR studio.

According to him, these actions were ordered, and whether it was coordinated, only an inspection will show.

“They comply with the will of the minister. I doubt that the temporary commission of inquiry will have the competence to do it. It should go into professional detail. It can easily be politicized,” explained Gunev.

The guest also commented on the words of Delyan Peevski, according to whom there is no police violence.

“We are all of the opinion that these 35 injured police officers is a terrible thing that happened. Mr. Peevski also forgets the other side that there are recognized cases of police officers who exceeded their powers. The public opinion is that there is a problem.” , the former Deputy Minister of the Interior told Bulgaria ON AIR.

Do we have good police training? This is the conclusion we can draw from the whole situation, he believes.

“In such a situation, police officers are under extreme psychological stress. In order to be able to react correctly, they need a lot of training and training. They are lacking. There is also a lack of technical means to protect them. Now we see records of bystanders, and not the whole picture and this to the policeman,” Gunev pointed out.

According to him, the lack of identifying signs of the policemen are violations, as well as the wearing of masks.

“We have all seen this. These police officers will not go in alone. They are ordered. It is not the job of the minister to be able to operationally control what is happening on the ground. It is the job of the chief secretary, of the professional leadership. The minister can get involved if a political decision must be made. The resignation of the deputy minister is inexplicable,” the former deputy minister also pointed out.
