The member of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, revealed when it would be possible to talk about the hijacked ship “Galaxy Leader” in the Red Sea on Sunday, whose crew includes two Bulgarian sailors, according to a publication in the YTA agency close to the Houthis (YPA). This is reported by BTA.
“If America and Israel stop killing the Palestinians in Gaza and bring water, medicine and food, then they can talk about the Israeli ship,” Mohammed Ali al-Houthi said in a post on his X profile.
He added: “What the Yemeni navy has done is in line with the principle of reciprocity.” JTA recalls that on Sunday the ship was captured and taken to the Yemeni coast. There are two Bulgarians on board the car – the captain and the first assistant captain of the 25-member crew.
Meanwhile, Britain condemned the illegal detention of the merchant ship “Galaxy Leader” by the Houthis in the Red Sea and called for the immediate release of the ship and its crew, Reuters reported.
“The UK condemns the unlawful seizure of the Galaxy Leader by the Houthis in the Red Sea and we call for the immediate and unconditional release of the ship and its crew,” a Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesman said.
Bulgarian authorities are working to free the two Bulgarian sailors from the ship hijacked by Yemeni rebels in the Red Sea, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov assured yesterday.
“Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we are working to free the Bulgarian citizens as quickly as possible. This is not related to the ship owner, it is related to those who hijacked the ship from the other side, so what we are trying , we have to work with them”, commented the Prime Minister.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is in contact with the families of the two Bulgarian citizens – part of the crew of the ship “Galaxy Leader”, which was kidnapped yesterday in the Red Sea near Yemen. This was announced by the press center of the department.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to clarify all the circumstances of the case in close coordination with the Bulgarian diplomatic missions in the region and with partner institutions.
The Bulgarian authorities have contacted the relatives of the sailors who are on board the ship Galaxy Leader, said the chief secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Zhivko Kotsev. He confirmed that the Bulgarians were the ship’s captain and first mate.
