“If the minister continues to close his eyes and gloss over the problems, then I will resign, but he went in the right direction.”
This was stated by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov at the Sofia airport, where he came to welcome our chess queens, who returned to their home soil after winning the European team title.
“I saw that Stoyanov has announced that three employees have been released. This is the sign that the Ministry of the Interior is giving that violence cannot and should not be left unpunished. The checks must also continue on those who beat fallen people, journalists and ordinary protesters , they should leave the Ministry of the Interior”, he also stated.
As “24 Chasa” already wrote yesterday, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov is ready to resign if the Minister of Internal Affairs Kalin Stoyanov does not condemn the police violence at the protest against the BFS and do not punish the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who allowed themselves to beat people.
“I cannot accept being prime minister in a government that beats people in the street, as it used to be,” insisted the prime minister at a briefing in the Council of Ministers, where a regular meeting was held on measures to combat aggression and violence.
Also on Monday, GERB leader Boyko Borisov called on Denkov to resign if Stoyanov leaves the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Earlier today, at a briefing, the interior minister Kalin Stoyanov stated that three police officers from the protest against the BFS have been suspended.
I thank the Prime Minister for confirming that the leader of a political party – Kiril Petkov, tried to recruit people in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but I did not allow it, added Stoyanov.
In connection with the requested resignation of the controversial minister Nikolay Denkov stated:
“The sports minister has my full support. I don’t know why they want his resignation. I haven’t seen a single reason why he should be criticized.”
He admitted that there is a problem with the chess federations, since only one of them has a license.
“It is extremely important that the girls were able to get together at the last moment and make a team for the European Championship. This moment could have been missed. By the end of the week, we will have a meeting with the federations so that there are no obstacles from now on,” revealed the Prime Minister.
