Inter is the new champion of Italy! The Nerazzurri won the 20th title in their history after a 2-1 win over city rivals Milan. Francesco Acherbi (18) and Marcus Thuram (49) were accurate for the Nerazzurri’s success, and Fikayo Tomori (79) scored for the Rossoneri. Stefano Pioli’s side finished the Derby della Madonnina with nine men after Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria were sent off in stoppage time, as was Denzel Dumfries.

For Simone Inzaghi’s alumni, it was a sixth consecutive victory over Milan, the first time either team had won the Scudetto with success over their city rivals.

Inter collected 86 points and after 33 rounds is unattainable at the top. The Rossoneri remain second with 69 points.

The first good opportunity to score opened before Inter. Matteo Darmian brought down the ball in the box for Lautaro Martinez. The Argentinian sent a shot on the move that went over the goal.

In the 14th minute, Milan organized a good attack where Yunus Moussa passed to Tijani Reinders, whose shot was blocked. The ball ended up in Theo Hernandez in front of the penalty area. The Frenchman shoots but wide of the goal.

Four minutes later, the Nerazzurri took the lead. Federico Dimarco crosses from a corner near the far post to Benjamin Pavard. The defender outpaced Theo Hernandez and passed to Francesco Acherbi, and the defender was left uncovered in the goal area and made no mistake with his header.

In the 22nd minute, Dimarco tried to surprise Mike Menian from a free kick, but the keeper was careful and caught. Three minutes later, Lautaro Martinez made a huge miss. Marcus Thuram advanced from the left and played to Dimarco. The full-back made an excellent pass to Lautaro, but El Toro from 5-6 meters in front of the goal was unable to sign, but sent the ball over the goal.

In the 29th minute, the Rossoneri organized a counterattack. The ball found its way to Rafael Leao, who tackled Acherby and fired a powerful shot, but into Jan Sommer’s reach and the Swiss cleared.

Shortly after, Fikayo Tomori latched on to Davide Calabria’s cross but was unable to head the ball well. In the 37th minute, Nicolo Barella was fouled on a speed attack about 20 meters from the goal. However, Dimarco’s shot was blocked. Seconds later, the Nerazzurri launched a great attack where Thuram looked for the far corner, but the ball went dangerously wide of the goal.

In the 40th minute, Milan came close to an equalizing goal. Davide Calabria joined the attack from the right. The full-back came inside and delivered a powerful shot that Sommer dealt with. Seconds later, Tomori made a mistake in his own penalty area which allowed Henrikh Mkhitaryan to control the ball and strike, but Menjan was up to it too.

The second half got off to a great start for the Nerazzurri. Marcus Thuram receives a deep pass from Alessandro Bastoni. The Frenchman controlled the ball between two defenders, outplayed Tomori, who left him a lot of space, and with a great shot from the edge of the penalty area in the bottom right corner scored for 0:2.

Stefano Pioli reacted immediately and replaced Tijani Reinders with Olivier Giroud. Simone Inzaghi’s alumni slowed down in the following minutes, preventing their rival from troubling Sommer. In the 62nd minute, Mkhitaryan tried to surprise the advancing Menyan, but his shot failed.

The Rossoneri got back into the game in the 79th minute. The symbolic hosts took a short corner from the left, but the ball reached Samu Chukwueze on the right. The Nigerian crossed to the far post where Rafael Leao out-jumped Matteo Darmian and continued to Matteo Gabbia. The central defender made a header, which Jan Sommer managed to knock out, but the ball ended up in Fikayo Tomori, and he made no mistake from a few meters – 1:2.

Shortly after, the ball luckily ended up in Noah Okafor, who, however, did not expect it and was unable to make a goal kick from a few meters away.

In extra time, Theo Hernández lost his temper by tripping and kicking Davide Fratesi. Denzel Dumfries reacted to his actions. A scuffle ensued between players from both teams, Hernandez and Dumfries were sent off.

In the seventh minute of added time, Milan captain Davide Calabria also received a red card. The defender punched Davide Fratesi in the face and was logically sent off.
