Fierce dispute in the parliament due to delayed payment under PVU (OVERVIEW)

A sharp dispute on the sidelines of parliament between the former partners in government. PP-DB and GERB with mutual accusations about the delay of the bills related to the second payment under the Recovery Plan.

The PP-DB accused GERB of delaying the bills under the Recovery Plan. “The facts are very clear – GERB and DPS are sabotaging the justice reform and the victim is the second payment. Already at the end of last year, all the actions dependent on the MC were taken. The bills are blocked by GERB, as they are in committees chaired precisely by their PG,” former Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov said.

PP-DB: The second payment under the Recovery Plan is blocked

Deputy Atanas Slavov pointed out three specific reasons for which GERB and DPS provoked the elections. “Firstly, in order to maintain their majority in the Supreme Judicial Council and the Supreme Prosecutor’s Council, since the new Law on the Judiciary that was drawn up provided for the depoliticization of parliamentary participation in both bodies. Secondly, so that they could use the Anti-Corruption Commission, which from September the month of 2023 is with increased powers. Thirdly – in order to receive amnesty for potential reports and investigations from before 2021 – the bill that we had prepared and ready to accept at the Council of Ministers – was blocked,” said Slavov.

However, according to Borisov, this is an election campaign by PP-DB. “After 3 years of inaction, to say that GERB is your fault is frivolous. They were in offices for three years and only Bulgaria had no plan. There cannot be an assembly with people who do not have a real idea of ​​what they have created and are looking for a way to transfer someone else’s own fault”, believes the GERB leader.

DPS also stated that they are not ready to work with PP-DB again, but because of the scandal with the Customs Agency. “Another lie on their part, if someone is sabotaging, they made it so there is no rotation. What we’ve seen, with these connections to smuggling, poodles, trailing tutues… the DPS will not work with them if everything is proven, what we saw is monstrous,” Peevski pointed out.

Vazrazhdane, for its part, is not satisfied with the speaker of the parliament, Rosen Zhelyazkov. For this, even three days before the final, together with the BSP, they submitted a request for his resignation.

“The point about the caretaker government was not allowed, because it does not correspond to the Constitution, and only the Constitutional Court can say that,” pointed out Kostadin Kostadinov.

Borisov defined this request as an emotional outburst of insecurity. Despite the scandals in the plenary hall, the new Minister of Agriculture, Georgi Tahov, was sworn in without debate.
