Ukraine has a serious problem on the front, and it largely has nothing to do with a lack of weapons and foreign aid. The seven-time world swimming champion Oleg Lisogor revealed that he was personally returned from the military recruitment center where he appeared willing to join the war. During his competitive career, 45-year-old Lisogor competed for CSKA (Kyiv) and held the military rank of Major.
“I went to volunteer and defend my country. However, they returned me there with the words: “Mr. Major, go home.” You probably have more important things to do there.” The thing is that there was no way they could make me a private and send me to the front, and there are too many officers. That’s the big problem. As always – there are no soldiers, and there are too many commanders. This thing has to change, otherwise there is no chance of success,” said Lisogor.

After refusing to be sent to the front, the former swimmer took up volunteer work and delivered supplies to Ukraine from abroad. Oleg Lisogor admitted that after that he developed a health problem, which already prevented him from participating in the war, even if he had a great desire.
“I underwent an operation for gallstones and they discovered a heart problem. Because of it, I was removed from the military records. However, I continue to help in whatever way I can,” added the former swimmer.
