Ludogorets won the Super Cup after a penalty shootout victory

Ludogorets is the new-old winner of the Bulgarian Super Cup. The champions beat Levski after a penalty shootout. In regular time, it came to a dramatic 2:2.

The “Blues” first took the lead through Georgi Milanov, and in the second half the champions made a complete turnaround through Kiril Despodov, who checked the opponent in 5 minutes.


At the very end, Stanimir Stoilov’s alumni struck through Kelian van der Kaap to send the game to penalties. In them, Marin Petkov and Asen Mitkov made mistakes for Levski, and Plamen Andreev saved a shot by Rick Jonathan.

Ronaldo played on the right wing and passed perfectly to the uncovered Georgi Milanov. The “blues” midfielder immediately sent a shot in front of the arc of the penalty area, scoring a fantastic goal.

In the second half, the battle on the field continued. In the 59th minute, Plamen Andreev saved a good situation in front of Cowley by not allowing him to threaten his goal. In the 68th minute, Ludogorets managed to equalize. Anton Nedyalkov broke through on the left wing and sent a parallel pass to Kiril Despodov, who intercepted and fired into the net of the “blues” for 1:1.

Just two minutes later, everything for Levski turned around. Plamen Andreev held the ball handler Igor Tiago and the referee awarded an 11-meter penalty kick. Kiril Despodov stood behind the white dot, who made the turn complete. In stoppage time, Petris got down the right and passed to Ronaldo. The Brazilian played very poorly, but the ball returned to Van der Kaap, who cut through the defense of the champions for 2:2.

This led to a penalty shootout. Ivelin Popov was the first to score for Levski, followed by an accurate shot by Cowley. Marin Petkov missed, but also in the next situation, Ludogorets made a mistake after Andreev saved Jonathan’s shot.

Accurate performances followed from Córdoba and Bari for Levski, as well as Cicicio and Thiago for Razgrad, until a mistake by one of Levski’s greatest talents, Asen Mitkov, missed. On the counter-attack, Verdon scored and Ludogorets triumphed with the Super Cup .
