Maritime traffic across the Bosphorus in Istanbul, Turkey was stopped on Thursday evening after a ship coming from Ukraine is stuck.

173-meter ship Lady Zehma has received rudder damage and anchored in Bebek Bay.

The cargo ship is carrying over 3,000 tons of corn from Ukraine.

There are no reports of casualties.

This was announced by the General Directorate for Coastal Safety on Twitter at 9:30 p.m. local time, quoted by Reuters.

More grain ships sailed from Ukraine

Lifeboats and personnel were sent to help the ship, according to the statement.

According to TASS, the cargo ship has been towed in tow to Ahirkapi area, where it will remain at anchor for repairs. Once the ship is diverted from the main Bosphorus transit routes, the authorities will resume traffic on it.

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced last weekend that the grain, shipped from Ukrainian ports under the UN-brokered grain agreement was 1,043,286 million tons.

“The shipment of grain, which began with the departure of the first vessel from the port of Odesa in Ukraine on August 1, 2022, continues safely and routinely. To date, the volume of grain transported from Ukrainian ports is 1.043286 million tons,” said the the ministry said in a statement.

On July 22 in Istanbul multilateral agreements were signed to remove supply restrictions of Russian products for export and for Moscow’s assistance in the export of Ukrainian grain.
