Putin and Xi discuss the Ukrainian crisis

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Kazakhstan today, his first overseas visit since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ukrainian crisis will be among the main topics of the meeting between the leaders of Russia and China, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, which will be held tomorrow within the framework of the summit forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This was reported to TASS by the aide to the Russian president Yuriy Ushakov.

“China takes a balanced approach to the Ukrainian crisis, clearly states its understanding of the reasons that forced Russia to start the special military operation,” Ushakov pointed out. Who described the upcoming meeting between Putin and Xi as a “long-awaited personal contact”. The two leaders are expected to give a positive assessment of the “unprecedentedly high level of strategic partnership between the two countries”.

Today, Xi Jinping arrived in Kazakhstan’s capital Nur Sultan, the Chinese leader’s first overseas trip since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. After this visit, Xi will travel to Uzbekistan, where he will participate in the SCO summit scheduled for September 15-16.
