Six Bulgarians were awarded with a “wild card” for participation in this year’s Sofia Open, which will be held in the period from November 4 to 11. Davis Cup nationals Dimitar Kuzmanov and Alexander Lazarov received special invitations to participate in the main draw of the ATP 250 category tournament. Adrian Andreev and the teenager Yanaki Milev, who will make his debut in the singles qualification, received a “wild card” a race of similar rank. In the main scheme of the pairs, the heroes of the match with Kazakhstan, Alexander Lazarov and Alexander Donski, as well as the young couple Yanaki Milev/Pyotr Nesterov, who distinguished themselves by winning last year’s edition of the competition in our native capital, won the special invitations.
Dimitar Kuzmanov and Alexander Lazarov are given a “wild card” for the main singles scheme, and Yanaki Milev and Adrian Andreev for the qualifiers. Alexander Donski and Lazarov, as well as Pyotr Nesterov and Yanaki Milev, will be invited for doubles. All nationals, you know them well from their last meeting with Kazakhstan in the Davis Cup, where we narrowly missed out on a win. But the boys all performed very well, they deserve it and I want to wish them success and a very good performance in the tournament,” commented tournament director Orlin Stanoychev.
