An exceptional drama took place in the last 30th round of the Chinese championship with the participation of the teams in which Bulgarians play.
Borislav Tsonev and Dalien Pro were relegated from China’s top flight after losing 3-2 at home to title-winning Shanghai Port.
The Bulgarian footballer spent 90 minutes on the pitch, missing a penalty in the 85th minute in a 2-2 draw when he failed to hit the target.
Dalian took a 2-0 lead with goals from Cesar Manzocchi in the 39th minute and Yang Xiangchuan in the 56th minute.
However, Shanghai equalized with goals from Li Ang in the 71st minute and Wu Lei in the 79th minute. After Tsonev’s miss from the penalty spot, Dalien conceded a third goal, which fell in the 94th minute and was again the work of Wu Lei. Dalien thus finished in penultimate 15th place with 20 points and was relegated.
Tsonev’s team had all the prerequisites to save themselves, as they received a bonus from the team in which another Bulgarian plays – Petar Vitanov. The CSKA youth was a starter for Tianzhen Jinmen and stayed on the field until the 78th minute of the match against Nantong.
Vitanov’s team won the away game 2:1 with goals from Farley Rosa and Robert Berich, while Son Wang scored for the hosts from a penalty.
Tianjin’s win came against Nantong, who were Dalian Pro’s main challengers for the bottom of the table, ensuring salvation.
Thus, despite their loss, Nantong remained with 22 points, which are 2 more than Borislav Tsonev’s team, which remains below the safety line.
Petar Vitanov and company finish the season in a comfortable 8th place with 48 points in their assets.
