A big scandal in Spanish football. Sevilla’s footballers drew the ire of the entire nation after taking the seats of passengers on a plane.
Immediately after the match with Celta (1:1), the team went to the airport, but an injury prevented it from traveling directly to Seville. Instead, the coaches and players were transferred to the last scheduled flight to Madrid (Iberia IB8869) to connect home.
“The flight was scheduled for 9:40 p.m., but it was delayed a bit. We were just about to get on board when the bus with the football players arrived. They passed in front and took our seats,” said one of the affected passengers.

The airline tried to cover up the situation by claiming a technical problem. However, the victims were aware that their plane had already left for the capital.
“They kept us waiting and mentioned something about some kind of damage. But the plane had just landed and there were no problems.”
In the end, people were taken to Madrid by buses, the journey lasting 7 hours. Most of them applied for compensation.
Eventually, the company apologized. “Air Nostrum deeply regrets the damage caused on Sunday to passengers on flight 188869 Vigo – Madrid due to an error solely attributable to the company. We will be contacting each of the affected passengers next week to compensate them for the inconvenience caused. Our best -sincere apologies,” the message said.
