BFS asked UEFA to move the match with Hungary – National Team

The Hungarian Football Federation issued a statement after the change of the European qualification between Bulgaria and Hungary, which will be played on November 16 in Plovdiv, announcing that the BFS wanted this change.

The match will be played behind closed doors at the Hristo Botev Stadium instead of the Vasil Levski National Stadium due to security reasons. This was officially announced by UEFA and BFS.

Here is what the Hungarian federation wrote:

For security reasons, the Bulgarian organizing association changed the venue and date of the Bulgaria-Hungary European Championship qualifier on November 16 and decided not to allow fans into the stadium.

More than two thousand Hungarian fans bought their tickets for the Bulgaria-Hungary match for the European Championship. For reasons of security, the Bulgarian association initiated the organization of the match behind closed doors, with which – together with the change of place and time – UEFA agreed.

The Hungarian FA will refund the ticket price to all Hungarian ticket holders within a short period of time and will inform concerned fans about the process via email soon.

In addition, the Hungarian federation recommends that fans planning to travel cancel all plane and train tickets they have already purchased, as well as their hotel reservations, and request a refund.

The Football Union of Hungary states that the Bulgarian association is responsible for the match and the resulting situation.

BFS asked UEFA that the Bulgaria-Hungary qualification match for the European Championship on November 16 be held in Plovdiv, instead of Sofia, as originally announced, due to a security risk to the Bulgarian federation.

In view of the extraordinary circumstances, UEFA has also adopted the organization of the match behind closed doors, so the match will be played without fans.

The Hungarian Football Federation learned with regret of the change, which significantly affected the team’s schedule, and informed fans who bought tickets for the match that it would of course refund the price of the tickets and, although the decision was not made by the Hungarian association, it also apologized to Hungarian fans , who plan to travel to the game, for the inconvenience caused.
