England failed to beat North Macedonia, drawing 1-1 away to Skopje in a Group C clash of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. The draw leaves the Three Lions top of the group with 20 points, while the Macedonians have 4 -and with 8 points to his credit.
The game at the Todor Proeski Stadium in Skopje got off to a better start for the visitors, who hit the post in the 14th minute after Declan Rice’s shot from outside the penalty area. In the 15th minute, Ollie Watkins headed in Phil Foden’s cross but sent the ball wide.
North Macedonia had a good attack in the 38th minute when Bojan Miovski went down in the penalty area. Initially, the judge did not rule anything, as he did not see the situation well and therefore had to review the situation with the VAR.
After consulting the system, he awarded a penalty kick to North Macedonia.
Ennis Bardi stood behind the ball, who shot in the 41st minute, but Jordan Pickford saved. Fortunately for the penalty taker, the ball came back to him and he sent the ball into the empty part of the goal in the extra time.
