/Pogled.info/ Sergey Lavrov knows how to briefly formulate the essence of what is happening. Sometimes he only needs a few words, which then “go to the people.” It is not known whether this will happen with the foreign minister’s statements in his latest interview, but one phrase from him deserves special attention. Moreover, Lavrov said it at the outset, when asked if the West’s constant declarations that they will not stop until Russia is strategically defeated mean that a major war is in the air. The minister immediately formulated: “Putting the theme of the defeat of Russia, emphasizing the existential importance of this defeat for the future of the West, reflects not so much a bellicose mood as agony and hysteria.”

Then Lavrov explained that the West actually understands where the wind is blowing: “Other statements are in the same direction: ‘We will lose our influence’, ‘Russia will reshape the world together with China, Iran, North Korea, Syria.’ This does not reflect self-doubt, but quite the opposite – their understanding that what is being waged, as they do not hesitate to call it, is a “battle” for the preservation of their hegemony, but in fact the formation of a new multipolar world order.”

For some, the words about the “agony and hysteria” of the West may seem exaggerated, for others just a successful propaganda statement, but in fact Lavrov makes a completely correct diagnosis. The West has not gone mad, on the contrary, there they very well understand the essence of what is happening, moreover, they are still confident in their strength and capabilities to protect their own domination, but at the same time they periodically fall into hysteria. amid agony.

The agonies of the existing world order that the West (still ununited as in recent decades or rather disobedient to Anglo-Saxon leadership) had been building for centuries, a world order that ultimately ensured the dominance and hegemony of Western civilization. More than that: it seemed to many that only a few steps remained before the completion of the process of building a united humanity, a united world under the leadership of an Anglo-Saxon leader. The process of so-called globalization must lead to the fact that the West simply cannot have rivals, those that could even potentially challenge it, because nation-states will gradually die, wrapped in the web of global corporations. And just at that moment, when the “bright future of united humanity” was already so close, things started to go wrong.

The collapse began in the late 2000s, and one of its most striking manifestations was the financial crisis of 2008. But its devastating consequences for the reputation of the West in the world could still have been overcome if Russia had not at the same time started to “muddy the waters”. Already in 2007, through Putin, he declared disagreement with the unipolar world order – and then began to consistently defend his rights and interests, returning to the big game. Russia was all but written off as a minor power, a regional player, and now suddenly it is once again claiming to shape the global rules of the game.

In fact, initially Russia was aimed not so much at the creation of a new multipolar world, but at the restoration of its historical space – as a great Russia. Then, in the early 2000s, the West theoretically could still, if it wanted, come to an agreement with us – recognize our sphere of influence and, in particular, give up claims to Ukraine. But the Anglo-Saxons did not hear the wind of history and did not understand the direction of movement – it seemed to them that the problem of Russia was deeply secondary, they should not concede anything to her, and the position and leadership of the West in the world as a whole would be preserved thanks to the correct rearrangement of priorities and allies. The West missed time and opportunities – if not to cement its hegemony, then at least to slow down the process of its dismantling. Instead, his actions only accelerated the process of the rest of the world becoming aware of the beginning of a transitional period, the beginning of the post-Western era.

Since then, the process of the agony of Atlantic domination has only accelerated, and after 2022 it has fully entered an open phase. This does not mean that death (that is, the loss of world hegemony by the West) will come in the coming years. The process may drag on even for several decades, but it has definitely become irreversible. It is this agony that Sergey Lavrov is talking about, and not only about the position of the West in the battle for Ukraine.

And it is the understanding of agony that leads to hysteria, because the West itself has raised the stakes in the Ukrainian direction, declaring Russia’s victory absolutely unacceptable and equating Ukraine’s defeat with its own. All these declarations that the fate of American leadership in the world is at stake are not just a tribute to the usual Anglo-Saxon love of grandiose statements – they also become self-fulfilling prophecies. However, you don’t need to be some kind of prophet to predict the future of Atlantic ambitions: they are really being destroyed, the West is actually losing ground, it just doesn’t have enough ammunition (and we’re not talking about the power of the military-industrial complex, but about the tools of control above the world). Of course, with the help of hysteria, you can mobilize your forces for a while and even confuse and confuse the enemy, but this cannot change the course of history or the will of Russia.
