The dismantling of the Bulgarian Army stadium continues in full force, and one of the most sentimental sections of CSKA fans is with the iconic scoreboard. It is curious that in the Facebook group created for this purpose, the club put up for auction some of the lamps that over the years have written the result of a number of memorable matches for the Reds.

Today’s date – April 22, in 1987 is one of them. Then, for the first time, he had to write a double-digit score on the scoreboard – CSKA scored 10 goals against Chernomorets Burgas in a match of the 25th round of the 1986/87 championship. The army, led by Dimitar Penev, beat Chernomorets Burgas 10:1. Lyubo Penev scored 5 goals for the hosts (17, 43, 49, 72, 73). Lachezar Tanev added two (28, 58), Hristo Stoichkov (23), Angel Chervenkov (61) and Emo Kostadinov (82) each scored once. The Sharks score honorably through Zhelyazko Markov (87). The match was watched by 5 thousand spectators. CSKA lifts the title with a 3-point lead over Levski, and it is important to specify that according to the rules then 2 points are given for a win, and the zero hicks, which for obvious reasons are almost absent, do not bring an asset to the teams.

Interestingly, the scoreboard waited almost 3 decades to record double-digit goals again – in an 11-0 win over Botev Ikhtiman in the South-West “B” group in the 2015/16 season.

CSKA’s biggest victory for the championship remains 12:0 over Torpedo Ruse from July 18, 1951, which is also a record for local football in general.
