Maritza fired her coach while she was at a party, replaced by a Turk

--

Two days after winning Bulgaria’s record tenth championship title, Maritsa’s volleyball players got a new coach. From the next season, the Turkish Ahmetcan Ershimsek will be at the helm of the “yellow-blues”.

However, the release of the news put the club in a confusing situation, as the previous coach Borislav Krachanov was not aware of the situation. His news was announced “on fire” during the club’s title-winning party at The Emporium Plovdiv boutique hotel.

Maritsa’s bosses had not told Krachanov about the change, but colleagues put it in the virtual, citing supposed sources from Turkey.
So, 29-year-old Borislav Krachanov ended his odyssey as Maritsa’s coach. With him, the team did not surpass itself in the Champions League, but the reason is also in the lower selection compared to previous years.

At the head of Maritza is Ahmetcan Ershimshek, who is part of the technical team of the Turkish Vakfbank. Ahmetcan was also in the staffs of the national teams of Turkey and Serbia, participating in the Olympics in Tokyo 2020.

Ersimsek has not been a head coach so far, which means that in Maritza they continue to educate their staff more than the talented generation they have. So far, the level of the team is getting lower and lower every year.

ps Expect on Thursday the last interview of Borislav Krachanov as Maritsa’s head coach with colleague Kiril Donev in the Maritsa Podcast.
