Russian rhythmic gymnastics sank into grief! The Graces are crying for their coach Elena Karpushenko.

She died yesterday, aged just 63. The news was reported by the Russian Federation.

Karpushenko is an honored master of sports, and in recent years he worked only with the silver medalist of the Olympic Games in Tokyo Yana Kudryavtseva. Under her leadership, the Russian won 3 times the gold medal in the all-around at the world championships and 2 times at the European championships, BTV reported.

As expected, Kudryavtseva was also the most upset. “I have no words. Forever in my heart!”, she wrote on social networks.

Condolences from the Bulgarian side were submitted under her publication by the vice-president of the Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation – Nevyana Vladinova and the three-time world champion Maria Petrova.

Sisters Dina and Arina Averini also posted messages of grief.

The president of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, Irina Viner, clarified the cause of the unexpected death.

“Elena Karpushenko was a great coach and the pride of our country. She was a mentor with huge potential. Her loss is huge for Russian gymnastics. We have lost a great coach, one of the few who know and understand the current state of our sport. The cause of death is long and prolonged illness,” Wiener said.
