Arne Slott: Liverpool forgot about Amorim and now have a new favorite for Klopp’s job

--

Arne Slott is the new favorite to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

According to “Sky Sports”, Merseysiders are in the process of negotiations with the coach of Feyenoord, but we are still far from the final decision.

The publication adds that at this stage there is no other club interested in the Dutch specialist, but Liverpool still have other options in front of them.

Still, the 45-year-old Slott is among the top options before the “Reds”.

Fabrizio Romano adds that Liverpool have already made contact with the Dutchman. Slott is even said to have caught the eye of Barcelona and Bayern Munich, who are also expected to change coaches in the summer.

Why would Liverpool settle on Arne Slott?

Slott is known for his direct and attacking football. Thanks to him, last season brought Feyenoord their first title in six years, and last weekend they also won the Dutch Cup.

Uses a high press and his team often steals balls from the opposing defense, then immediately tries to finish with a shot. Proof of this is the fact that Feyenoord is the leader in the number of duels won in the final third of the pitch.

Rotterdam, meanwhile, have the best defense in the league and the second best offense.

Slott’s favorite formations are 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3, which perfectly suit the players Liverpool have and what Klopp has imposed so far.

There was interest in the Dutch specialist from Tottenham, Chelsea and Leeds, but he decided to stay at Feyenoord and signed a new contract last May – until 2026.

Liverpool are expected to have to pay around £9m in compensation if they reach an agreement with Slott. There is no release clause in his contract, but Feyenoord are ready to part with the specialist for a sum of this order.

“I’m not done here yet,” Slott said after the new deal was announced. The Dutchman was an option for Tottenham last summer, but in the end Spurs settled on Ange Postecoglou.

Who is Arne Slott and what kind of coach is he?

Slot took over Feyenoord from Dick Advocaat at the start of the 2021/22 season, with the team having finished in fifth place the previous season. Just two years later, the club from Rotterdam rejoiced with the Eredivisie championship.

He created a squad that pressed high, played with serious intensity and whose main thought was attack.

Feyenoord are second in the Eredivisie table this season, nine points behind leaders PSV. After finishing third in their Champions League group, Rotterdam crashed out of the Europa League, knocked out by Roma on penalties.

According to the Dutch journalist from “Sky Sports”, Marcel van der Kraan Sloot is the big favorite for the new manager’s post of “Anfield”.

“He is the main candidate for Liverpool,” Van der Kraan says. Guardiola.”

According to Van der Kraan, Feyenoord will not stop Slot’s development, despite the club having invested heavily in him. He is said to be the highest paid coach in Eredivisie history.

Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim, previously considered the favorite for the Liverpool job, appears to be no longer in the Merseysiders’ accounts.

In recent days, the Portuguese was in London for negotiations with West Ham, but even the “hammers” have other options in front of them, negotiating with Julen Lopetegui, the current coach of the French Lille – Paulo Fonseca.
