The Chelsea star Cole Palmer did not take part in the London derby with Arsenal, lost ignominiously with 0:5. The absence of the Blues’ best player does not explain the heavy defeat, but it does explain the harmlessness of the team, who only managed one shot against the Gunners.
Packmer, 21, has established himself this season as one of the most promising young players in the Premier League and is indispensable to Mauricio Pochettino’s side. In fact, he is so indispensable that without him the team would probably be in a much more dangerous position than the 9th he occupies.
The Manchester City youngster has 20 goals and 9 assists in the Premier League, meaning he has had a direct hand in almost half (47.5%) of Chelsea’s 61 goals. According to research by the Daily Mail, without his goals, the Londoners would be in the relegation zone, 18th with 27 points.
However, Chelsea’s poor season has not been solely defined by their reliance on Cole Palmer in attack, as the team have already conceded 57 goals. This is the worst achievement of the team in its entire history in the Premier League. Until now it was 55 – in 1994/95 and 1994/96.
