Charles Leclerc took first place after the end of the second free practice at the Zandvoort circuit. The Ferrari driver recorded the fastest lap in 1:12.345 min. Second by 0.004 sec. his teammate Carlos Sainz finished. Third, 0.072 seconds behind. from Leclerc’s time it was Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes.

The start of the session was delayed by 15 minutes due to two incidents in qualifying for the F3 supporting series. It also became clear that Oscar Piastri will drive for McLaren in the 2023 season. The weather in the Netherlands was similar to that of the first practice session.

A large part of the drivers left their garages after the start of the second free practice for the Grand Prix of the Netherlands. Among them was once again local favorite Max Verstappen. The Red Bull driver is using a new gearbox after problems earlier today and wants to protect his success from 2021 at all costs, while Hamilton complained of radio problems.

Verstappen recorded the first fastest lap in 1:13.465 min on soft tyres. The world champion was followed by Sainz, Leclerc, Russell, Norris and Hamilton, who drove with a medium. The rest of the drivers also decided to bet on a medium, except for Alonso and Gasli. The two were doing a lap on Pirelli’s stiffest compound.

After a quarter of the Zandvoort session, Sainz and Leclerc overtook Verstappen. The Spaniard recorded 1:13.412 min. – by 0.025 sec. a better time than that of Leclerc.

Midway through the second practice, Leclerc and Sainz occupied the top two positions, followed by Hamilton, Norris, Russell, Stroll, Alonso, Verstappen, Ocon and Ricciardo.

The Red Bull cars continued to have a slower pace than expected. Verstappen again spent a few minutes in the garage before returning to the track. Ricciardo was also in his team’s garage after his car’s left side carrier leaked.

With less than 15 minutes to go in Friday’s final practice in the Netherlands, Yuki Tsunoda got stuck in the gravel after leaving the contours of the Zandvoort circuit.

There were no turnovers until the end of practice. That left Leclerc in the lead, followed by Sainz. Hamilton and Norris finished third and fourth. The remaining positions in the top 10 were occupied by Russell, Stroll, Alonso, Verstappen, Ocon and Ricciardo.
