|A part of one of the stands at the “Plovdiv” stadium has collapsed, a reporter told Plovdiv24.bg from the venue. The collapse of the seats is in the southern sector under the electronic panel. The collapse itself happened days ago, as the site is cordoned off with police tape and danger warning signs, but no specific security measures have been taken and access is free. |
The camera of Plovdiv24.bg managed to film dozens of trainees from various sports clubs. For more than 10 years, there has been ruin and complete indifference about the fate of one of the largest stadiums in Bulgaria, due to the lack of an investor. The facility has a capacity for 55,000 spectators and is located near the Rowing Canal in Plovdiv.
At the moment, the “Plovdiv” stadium hosts athletics events of a republican scale, and the Spartak (Plovdiv) team also plays its official matches from the Third League – Southeast Group here. For many years, no major public and cultural events have been held at the stadium. The last spectacular event here was probably the Metallica concert in 1999.
