The Metropolitan Police detained the 23-year-old son of the mayor of Panagyurishte, Nikola Belishki – Ivan, because of threats, BNR reported.
The arrest was made on “Nishava” street, after earlier today the “Vazrazhdane” party announced that their MP Stoyan Taslakov was attacked and threatened by Ivan Belishki with a gun. The party also claims that a total of two people’s representatives from “Vazrazhdane” were threatened by the mayor’s son.
The SDVR confirmed the arrest. The case is under investigation.
Meanwhile, on his Facebook profile, MP Stoyan Taslakov wrote: “I’m fine, I dealt with the attacker. He has more injuries.”
Before bTV, however, Ivan Belishki denied that he had threatened anyone with murder. “I did not threaten. Stoyan Taslakov hit me in front of the entrance. There are cameras, we are waiting for the pre-trial to finish,” he said. Belishki was taken by ambulance to the hospital for facial injuries. He will then be taken to the custody of a regional police station.
At the end of April the mayor’s son was detained for intentionally causing a fire on someone else’s property and for causing bodily harm to a police officer, and a month earlier Ivan Belishki set fire to the Russian flag in the center of Sofia.
In March 2021, the mayor’s son was arrested after sweeping parked cars in the center of Panagyurishte with his jeep and crashing into a shop window.
