The Londoners took the lead in the extra minutes of the first half through Pedro Porro’s strike. The Saints equalized immediately after the break through Che Adams, but Tottenham regained the lead in the 65th through Harry Kane, who headed in Dejan Kuluszewski’s cross. The people of Sofia scored a third goal with a shot in the corner by the Croatian Ivan Perišić a quarter of an hour before the end of regular time. The hosts pulled one back in the 77th minute through former England international Theo Walcott. The dramatic outcome was reached in the extra time of the match at St. Mary’s Stadium. Pape Sarr then played clumsily in the box and fouled Ainsley Maidland-Neils.
