In a special operation carried out yesterday, at the time of a transaction, four people were detained with 934 grams of methamphetamines, the director of the police in Varna, Senior Commissioner Atanas Mihov, announced today. He specified that 6 addresses were searched, one of which was in Sofia, as well as three cars.
During the searches, cocaine, heroin, amphetamine, methamphetamine, marijuana, electronic scales, as well as the sum of BGN 600 were found. The total amount of the drug found is one kilogram and 120 grams.
A total of 12 people, aged between 15 and 62, were detained, added Mihov. According to him, some of the arrested have criminal convictions. At one of the searched addresses, the police found a list of names, social security numbers and addresses. Mihov also said that the group was monitored for about 2 months and all the methods provided by law were used to break it up.
Prosecutor Radoslav Lazarov added that this morning two extremely important witnesses were questioned before a judge.
Five of the detainees, two of them minors, handed over to inspectors from the Children’s Pedagogical Room, were brought to criminal liability for participation in an organized criminal group for the distribution of drugs. One of them has not been convicted and is on bail, added Lazarov. According to him, the other two were convicted, and one, who, according to the prosecution, led the group, acted under the conditions of a dangerous relapse. Prosecutor Lazarov specified that the two are detained for a period of up to 72 hours and on Monday requests will be submitted for their detention.
Regarding the found list of names and social security numbers, he indicated that the materials will most likely be sent to the competent District Prosecutor’s Office to check for possible vote buying.
