
Relatives of those who died in accidents are preparing another national protest against the war on the roads. The organizers foresee a blockade of main road arteries in 20 settlements throughout the country on Sunday, announced Ivan Spasov in Yambol.
A blockade of the international road to the Lesovo border crossing at the intersection to the Yambol village of Kozarevo, as well as a stoppage of traffic on key road sections in another 19 settlements, including Sofia, Varna, Burgas, Haskovo and Shumen, are foreseen by the organizers, Spasov specified.
“Kostinbrod, Samokov, Borovets, the village of Bratanitsa, Etropole, Kazanlak, Chirpan, Topolovgrad, Targovishte, Kubrat, Pazardzhik, Cave, Panagyurishte, Lyubimets. This week we will hold it from 10 o’clock, not as I originally announced from 11″.
The protesters’ demands remain:
“For urgent, urgent changes in the Penal Code. Especially for transport accidents, when there is the use of alcohol, drugs and a gross violation of the Road Traffic Act, we want these crimes to be intentional, not as previously unintentional and the cases end with suspended sentences judgments.“
In a letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rosen Zhelyazkov, the protesters demand an urgent meeting, and in the meantime they are preparing:
“On May 31, we are planning a protest in Sofia, during which we will close Vitoshka Blvd., from there we will go to the National Assembly, where we will also close them and wait for them to accept us“.
