The mayor of Zlatograd proposes to drop the VAT on the price of water – New Life

New life

Miroslav Yanchev, mayor of the municipality of Zlatograd, has repeatedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the price of water supply and sewerage services determined by the KEVR for the Smolyan region.

In his desire to seek change, he has sent a letter to the National Assembly, the Ministry of Finance, the National Association of Municipalities and the regional governor.

Miroslav Yanchev

He points out that the set price exacerbates the social sensitivities of the affected population. Therefore, he proposes to drop VAT on the price of a cube for the whole country.

I raised the issue of the price of plumbing services not only on the territory of the municipality of Zlatograd, but also for all municipalities in the country.

His letter also says: The short period of work of the 48th National Assembly did not allow it to consider my proposal in substance, and therefore I am placing it on the agenda of the new 49th National Assembly. The decision on my proposal to abolish VAT or reduce it is within the competence of the Parliament alone, and I sincerely hope that its composition will find a balanced solution that will guarantee the interests of the citizens and those of the operators. Acceptance of my proposal will lead to a reduction in the price for the final consumer with deduction of VAT, without affecting the calculations of the water companies and the planned investments. Hardly any of us have doubts that investments are necessary.

We remind you that neither the mayor nor the municipal council has the right to determine the price of water or electricity.
