BSP leader Kornelia Ninova accused GERB leader Boyko Borisov of the situation in the country and called for urgent adoption of the budget. She reminded that Bulgaria needed a supra-party government of experts.

Ninova wonders why President Rumen Radev is delaying handing over the mandate to the second political power.

“We all had to get together, air out the important tasks for Bulgaria, set a deadline, study a supra-party government in which there are no leaders, no political figures, control it from the parliament and so far, at least in the first reading, we have considered the Budget. For us, the topic “Budget” remains the most important. All these quarrels, records, ugliness of theirs interfere with the real process, which should have been the Budget. Here June 10 is knocking on the door already, and it has not passed the first reading. Which budget ? Radev’s one, which is absurd and I think no one will support it – with a 6.7 deficit?! Extended?! This means that the Cabinet of Ministers should withdraw this one to bring in an extended one. Is it a new one, which we here will rework in some way ?! All this that is happening on the side makes it impossible to solve the real issue of the state and the people. This is what we want! And it was possible. While they are negotiating, while they are making unprincipled coalitions, the other process could go on. Obviously, the first and second force place the adoption of the Budget as a consequence of what majority will be cast. The commissions have not yet been decided. Boyko Borisov is entirely responsible. He created this mess, he provoked it, he mimed all the time negotiations. He used one party against the other, pitted them against each other. Now let him bear his responsibility”.

Ninova also highlighted the role of President Radev in the processes:

“I see that he is delaying the second term, inexplicably why. He is probably buying time and expects that during that time any possible majorities will collapse in order to continue to rule the office. The role of a real president, of a real statesman at such a time is to gather everyone, to mediate, to look for a way out”.
