Surprisingly or not, the hosts started stronger. They staged two dangerous attacks before a minute had passed. In the first case, a dangerous cross into the penalty area followed, and in the second, Buchholda led a teammate only to Bussato, but the guard handled it. In both situations, however, an ambush flag was raised.
The pressure continued and in the second minute, the “boyars” reached a corner after Turitsov blocked a cross from the outside line. Before his performance, however, the match was temporarily interrupted due to the smoke and torches that the home fans ignited.
After about three minutes of stoppage time, play resumed, but nothing dangerous came from the corner after Lindseth was cleared. Subsequently, however, the ball was returned to the penalty area of the “armies”, where Angelov shot with his head uncovered, and Busato pounced and scored.
In the 9th minute, Stoyanov crossed dangerously into the penalty area, where Buchholda delivered a header that was not at all safe. However, the ball went just wide of the side post. Seconds later, Buchholda crossed very dangerously into CSKA’s penalty area, but Busato caught it.
After a quarter of an hour of play came the first better attack for the visitors. Lindseth flashed a nice lead pass to Nazon, who tried to push the ball forward with possession but it ended up too close to the keeper who caught it. Gradually, the “armies” began to play more with the ball and organize more attacks.
In the 18th minute, Martin Toshev was brought out behind the opponent’s defense, which was advanced to the center. He advanced with a ball at his feet and flicked it past Bussato to score. However, the goal was disallowed due to an offside.
In the next 10 or so minutes, there were no clear goalscoring chances and errors in both teams prevailed, as well as duels and fouls.
The lull continued. In the 36th minute, the guests exchanged technical passes in the opponent’s half, but the final one from Lindseth sent the ball into the hands of Velichkov.
In the 37th minute, the home team miraculously did not take the lead after a great double save from Busato. First, a technical shot with an outside foul from outside the penalty area by Kolyo Stanev, which Busato beat. However, the ball went the way of Krum Stoyanov, who headed in from close range, but the Brazilian goalkeeper quickly rose to his feet and headed again for a corner. Seconds later, Toshev found himself alone against Busato slightly wide of the goal, but Busato again showed a fantastic reflex to save.
Five minutes later, Phaeton made an excellent break from the left and passed dangerously into the penalty area, where, however, the uncovered Nazon rushed and got away with the ball. It landed on the edge of the penalty area, from where Yuga shot powerfully, but after a ricochet it went to a corner. After its execution there was no new danger.
In the second of five minutes of added time after a scrum in the box, Lindseth stretched out a leg and shot low between a crowd. However, Velichkov saw the ball and caught it.
In the sixth minute of added time, Lindseth was found in the penalty area and shot a header, but his shot went just wide of the side post.
