American President Joe Biden announced that there are American citizens among the evacuees today from the Gaza Strip, and said that he “expects more evacuees in the coming days,” reported France Press.
Biden, who in his post on the social network “X” did not specify the number of evacuated Americans, indicated that thanks to the “leading role” of the United States, “wounded Palestinians and foreign nationals” were able to leave the enclave, fleeing the war between Israel and ” Hamas”.
At least 320 people with foreign passports and several wounded Palestinians managed to evacuate the Palestinian enclave in Egypt today through the Rafah border crossing, three Egyptian sources and a Palestinian official said, quoted by Reuters. The agency notes that these are the first evacuees to benefit from the Qatar-brokered deal.
Under the terms of a deal struck between Egypt, Israel and Hamas, 81 wounded and an initial group of 500 people with foreign passports are expected to leave the enclave in the next few days, sources told Reuters.
