Spain’s elite Betis made a mockery of fifth-division side Hernan Cortes, beating them 12-1 in a Copa del Rey first-round match. The amateurs are named after the Spanish conquistador who led an expedition in the early 16th century that destroyed the Aztec state.
“Verdiblancos” scored as many as five goals until the 20th minute. Rodri Sanchez was on target in the fourth, Willian Jose in the sixth, Luis Enrique with the ninth, Eze Abde in the 16th and Rodri again in the 20th.
In the 33rd minute, Jose missed a penalty, but in added time, he went up to 6:0. Rodri Sanchez completed his hat-trick in the 37th minute and Willian Jose did so in the 40th. Three minutes later, the Brazilian scored his fourth goal in the match, thus the two teams went into the break at 0:9.
In the 50th minute, Ez Abde made it 10-0 in favor of Betis, after which there was a relaxation in the ranks of the Andalusians. Five minutes after Abde’s goal, Enrique Marquez scored an honorable goal for Hernán Cortés. In the 86th minute, Mark Rocca scored a penalty for 1:11, and the final 1:12 was formed by Asan Diao in the last minute.
Interestingly, when Hernán Cortés scored, Betis fans showed the magic of the greatest game – football, and celebrated the goal along with the home supporters.
