Grigor Dimitrov faces Stefanos Tsitsipas in contention for a place in the final of the year’s final ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris.
The semi-final battle on the central court in the “Bersi” hall starts at 15:00 Bulgarian time!
The match got off to a great start for Grigor, who won 12 of the opening 14 points in the match, allowing him to lead in negative time with a break and a 3:0 game lead. In the following minutes, the Bulgarian continued to maintain his high level of play, which allowed him to keep his lead at 5:2. In the eighth game, Tsitsipas served to stay in the first set, but his problems continued, and Dimitrov took advantage of them to reach two set points, which were, however, saved. However, the logical thing happened and our first rocket put an end to the dispute in the first part after 6:3.
The second set started much more evenly and although the Greek raised his level even more, in the opening games the chances of a breakthrough were absent. Gradually the games became more contested and fierce, but still the servers took their serves without much trouble. In the ninth game, however, Grigor landed a couple of winners to reach his first break point of the second set. Tsitsipas parried it and then saved another one to pull away and make it 5-4. In the end, the fate of the second set was to be decided in a tiebreak, in which, unfortunately, the control was completely on the side of the Greek, who prevailed with 7-1 points and took the match to a decisive third set.
In the final third of the clash, both won their first service games. In the third game, Tsitsipas was able to break his opponent for the first time in the match, but Grisho fought off 4 break points to win his serve.
