Novak Djokovic – Andrei Rublev 5-7, 7-6(3), 7-5
Novak Djokovic reached the final of the Masters tournament in Paris, where he is a six-time champion. The 24-time Grand Slam champion outlasted Andrei Rublev in a hard-fought clash 5-7, 7-6(3), 7-5 and will challenge Grigor Dimitrov for the trophy.
Our first racket and the Serbian have a total of 12 matches between them, with Dimitrov having one win in those clashes. She came in 2013 at the Masters tournament in Madrid.
Djokovic is on a nine-match winning streak against the Bulgarian, the latest of which came this season in Rome, where Nole prevailed 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. The two also competed at the Australian Open, where the Serbian won 7-6(7), 6-3, 6-4.
Grigor and Djokovic also have two meetings in the Bercy Hall. In 2016, the world No. 1 prevailed 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, and in 2019 he eliminated Dimitrov in the semifinals with 7-6(5), 6-4.
In his semi-final match against Andrei Rublev, Novak struggled and failed to be at his maximum level throughout. Also, between the second and third sets, he called in a physical therapist because of lower back problems.
However, Djokovic has overcome all odds and is now 9-0 in Paris Masters semi-finals, and on Sunday he will attempt to win his 40th ATP 1000 title.
