Employees of the Municipality of Smolyan are urgently supplying sectional committees with units in some of the settlements, due to the lack of electricity as a result of yesterday’s storm that hit the region. Despite the problems, the election day started normally, informed the Chairman of the Municipal Election Commission Simeon Velinov.
“The election day started normally. All members of sectional committees appeared. I have information about 10 villages that have problems with electricity, but voting by machine is not planned for them, and at the moment the Municipality of Smolyan supplies them with units”.
In the remaining 4 municipalities, in which there is a runoff, the election day started normally without complaints, signals and replacement of committee members.
Mayors of Smolyan, Zlatograd and Chepelare are being elected today in the second round. There are also elections for seven mayors of settlements. These are in the villages of Barutin and Chavdar in Dospat, Podvis in Smolyan, Chepintsi and Vitina in Rudozem, Erma Reka and Startsevo in Zlatograd municipality.
The elections will take place in 133 sections, including 1 mobile section. In 77 of them, voting will be mixed – with a machine and with a paper ballot.
