Today, the second round of local elections is taking place in the country. The election day starts at 07:00 and will end at 20:00.
Voting will take place in runoffs for mayors in 91 general, 451 town halls and 31 districts, after last Sunday in these localities none of the candidates received more than half of the votes. The two candidates with the most support a week ago are facing each other.
Until the end of election day at 8:00 p.m., the bans on political agitation and to publicize the results of sociological surveys.
Nearly 7.3 thousand sections were formed for the run-offs. In nearly 5.9 thousand of them, you can also vote with machines.
Today, run-offs are being held in 19 regional cities, including the three largest Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, where once again there is an election of regional mayors, and in 4 city halls there are three contenders, the second and third having the same number of votes.
Yesterday, the CEC canceled voting with a machine in one section in Dobrich, as it did not work after installation, as well as in two more in Blagoevgrad – there the machines were exchanged. The voter lists today include people who acquired electoral rights between the two rounds, and those who lost them are deleted.
“The electoral lists for voting in the second round also include voters who submitted applications for voting at their current address. They cannot vote at their permanent address,” the CEC states.
People with disabilities, who voted in them last Sunday, also vote in the mobile sections, and if the section is deleted, they are added to the voter lists at their permanent address.
CEC spokesperson Rositsa Mateva specified that people themselves decide how to cast their vote in mixed voting sections:
“If you wish to vote by machine, you will be given a card by the CEC”.
The CEC points out that the ballot or ballots from the machine are printed sequentially and must be taken after the device beeps.
“They have to wait for the printing and the safest way is to wait for the sound signal,” Mateva pointed out.
A machine that stops working and cannot be restarted is out of order, and voting will continue with paper ballots.
The CEC reminded that when starting the devices, the system receipt with the hash code must be placed in a prominent place in the section commission.
