Mathematician Prof. Mihail Konstantinov comes out with an analysis over the phone to Sonya Koltuklieva for the viewers of PIK TV, what and why the voter turnout is when voting with machines and who will not get the bills of the corrective round.
On the phone to PIK TV, the mathematician commented:
“What can be seen is that Mr. Terziev is leading in Sofia and is set to win, if something dramatic does not change. Just two days ago I reported the result 53 to 47. If we take this rule that whoever leads by 4-5% as of 2 p.m. (they are reported at 2 p.m. and reported at 1 p.m.), this difference is preserved.”
“Terziev takes Sofia, GERB – Plovdiv and PPDB – Varna, but I still don’t know how things will develop there”, Konstantinov added.
Asked when vote-buying would end, he stated: “It was a vice of Western electoral systems as well, but that was shortly after the Second World War. The West gradually unburdened itself of that vice. Judging by the pace at which we are mastering democracy, I hope that happens here too. But there should be really serious penalties for vote trading and the dealers should be punished for buying votes. The one who runs the trade, who gives the money, should get very serious penalties. Also political damage must also be borne by this political force for which votes are bought”.
Sonia Koltukliva noted, quoting Nedyalko Nedyalkov, that everyone will be winners tonight and asked Prof. Konstantinov – how will Bulgaria wake up tomorrow.
“Let’s apply the universal rule – whoever won Sofia cannot have lost the local elections. The mayor will probably be of the PPDB, this coalition won Sofia and it will declare that it did not lose the elections. Moreover, there have not been any so far. this is their springboard,” commented the mathematician.
“If I have to characterize the elections, it is that there were no losers in these elections. GERB performed quite satisfactorily in the country, PPDB – in Sofia. Elections without surprise”, he pointed out.
“I am surprised by the brutal presence of the police. Here – Zemen is a “mass of police and gendarmerie”, wrote our viewers”, noted Koltuklieva.
“If there are illegal actions and indeed a violation of rights, it should be investigated, but after the elections are over. After all, it is not a question of a terrorist center, but possibly to counter vote trading,” replied Prof. Konstantinov.
“We don’t have vote traders punished in the Tryavna region, for example. There should be people convicted so that others can realize what they are doing. Catch one and cut off his head. This first. And second – say in favor of which political force is buying votes. Because it will suffer heavy political damage. And at the moment the guarantors remain unpunished. And the guarantors are the parties, aren’t they,” said Prof. Mihail Konstantinov.
