The best Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov failed to fight for the title of the ATP Masters 1000 series tennis tournament in Paris, after losing in the final to the world No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

The match started nervously, with errors from both sides in the opening minutes, but despite this, there were no breakthrough chances. That changed in the seventh game, when Grigor forced two forehands, which also meant Djokovic’s first break point. However, another error from the Bulgarian’s racket followed and so Djokovic made a breakthrough for 4:3. The Serbian consolidated without any particular problems for 5:3, coming one step closer to winning the set. In the next game, Dimitrov won his serve hard to reduce his deficit to 4:5 and thus force Novak to serve for the first part. In the decisive moment, the world No. 1 showed some hesitation, missing his first set ball, but in the second Grisho sent the ball out and thus the first part went to the asset of the record holder of Grand Slam titles.

The second set began, similar to the first, with a marked advantage for the servers, as both tennis players comfortably won their serves in the opening games. Unfortunately, at 2-2 Dimitrov played a very poor game in which he made several unprovoked errors and this allowed Djokovic to break away with a 3-2 lead in his favour. This brought additional calmness to the game of the Serbian, who easily reached 4:2, and in the seventh game he had a chance to break through again and come very close to the final success. However, Grigor did not give up and got out of the difficult situation, reducing the score to 3:4. The Bulgarian tried to put his opponent under pressure in the next game, but the leader in the world ranking did not flinch and led 5:3, coming just one step closer to the title. Novak didn’t even have to wait to serve for the victory, as in the very next game he made his third break from the beginning of the match, putting an end to the dispute in the final after 6:3.
