Vasil Terziev is the new mayor of Sofia, according to the first data from sociological agencies. 51.9% voted for the PP candidate – DB and “Save Sofia”, and 43.4% for Vanya Grigorova from the BSP/Left. About 6% of candidates indicated that they did not support anyone. Voter turnout in the capital was approximately 33% at 8:00 p.m.

Thus, for the first time in 16 years, the capital will be governed by a mayor who is elected by another political power.


Who is Vasil Terziev?

Born on June 9, 1978, he graduated from the First English Language High School in Sofia, then the American University in Blagoevgrad with a degree in Business Administration. Married, with two children.

He is best known as the co-founder and CEO of Telerik, a global provider of tools and solutions for software development and content management. In 2014, the company was sold for $262.5 million, which at that time was the largest deal in the history of the Bulgarian startup ecosystem.

In 2009, he was the key driver behind the founding of Telerik Academy – the company’s project for training qualified software specialists.

In 2017, Terziev became a managing partner at Eleven Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund. Recognized as one of the best investors in the region. He is also a co-founder of the business incubator “Campus X”.
