A moment, a kind of catharsis, has been looming for a long time, in which this assembly will be renegotiated. The question was to what extent these elections would bias one side and the other, ie. going into these negotiations to renegotiate who will come in from what position. This is what political analyst Christian Shkvarek told Nova TV.
“We would be remiss if we said that one side or the other took an incredible lead,” he pointed out regarding the results of the local elections.
“Some took a very decisive victory in the country with 1,500 councillors. There is no such thing as a collapse, a disintegration of GERB in the local government, as was predicted a year and a half ago guaranteed,” he pointed out.
“On the other hand, PP-DB made breakthroughs. They took the capital, they took Varna. There is no definitive victory where one or the other can stomp on the table and say “This is happening”. Both sides more or less survived this bloody battle,” Shkvarek said.
“The three major political formations in Sofia in the previous elections – PP-DB, GERB and “Vazrazhdane” fielded one type of candidate. They produced a formulaic, de-ideological, technocrat. And Deyan Nikolov is not the typical aggressive nationalist – he is a financier, and Hekimyan from the editorial desk, and Terziev. The fourth formation did the opposite.
She produced an over-ideological candidate, an activist, a person with a very bright political undertone. They just made a bet to see what would happen. And what happened? Of the three major formations, each one has taken much less from this election with this type of formulaic, Californian technocrat without ideology,” he commented on the performance of Vanya Grigorova.
“It turned out that if you bet on an over-ideological person, an activist, you triple the votes. BSP from 36 thousand votes reached 110 thousand, betting on such a person. This shows that the ideology is not dead,” he added.
An example of this is Vili Lilkov – a strongly ideological right-wing candidate who received over 20,000 votes compared to about 7,000 for KOD across the country.
